FULLY DISTRIBUTIVE CONTROL SYSTEM

The CELTROL POT controllers are installed as a fully distributive system, with one (1) microprocessor for each reduction cell, a communication microprocessor for up to one hundred (100) reduction cells in a potroom, and a supervisory computer.

Major Components of the Fully

Distributive CELTROL System

A fully distributive system is used for:

The distributive control feature of the system provides minimum downtime for the failure of any single component of the system. If a CELTROL controller fails, only the functions for that reduction cell are lost. If the potline supervisory computer fails, the control of the reduction cells by each CELTROL controller continues without interruption. In this event, information to/from the potline and host computer is lost. Examples of lost information include the generation of audio messages or pot status changes to operating personnel, but pot operation is not interrupted. This operational independence provides a high degree of operational security.
